Progress ShareFile Storage Zones Controller 5.12.6: Unvalidated Callback URL Race
CVE-2026-93694 Published on October 12, 2026
Untrusted request routing and forged acknowledgements permit copy-workflow manipulation in Progress ShareFile Storage Zones Controller
In Progress ShareFile Storage Zones Controller v5.12.6 and below, processing of queue items can send acknowledgements to an unvalidated callback URL, this behavior together with a race condition allows the attacker to cause FileCopyService to consume attacker-controlled metadata and content. Exploitation requires control over copy queue work and a race condition.
Vulnerability Analysis
CVE-2026-93694 is exploitable with local system access, and does not require authorization privileges or user interaction. This vulnerability is consided to have a high level of attack complexity. The potential impact of an exploit of this vulnerability is considered to have no impact on confidentiality, with no impact on integrity and availability.
Weakness Types
What is a SSRF Vulnerability?
The web server receives a URL or similar request from an upstream component and retrieves the contents of this URL, but it does not sufficiently ensure that the request is being sent to the expected destination. By providing URLs to unexpected hosts or ports, attackers can make it appear that the server is sending the request, possibly bypassing access controls such as firewalls that prevent the attackers from accessing the URLs directly. The server can be used as a proxy to conduct port scanning of hosts in internal networks, use other URLs such as that can access documents on the system (using file://), or use other protocols such as gopher:// or tftp://, which may provide greater control over the contents of requests.
CVE-2026-93694 has been classified to as a SSRF vulnerability or weakness.
Use of Hard-coded Cryptographic Key
The use of a hard-coded cryptographic key significantly increases the possibility that encrypted data may be recovered.
What is a Race Condition Vulnerability?
The program contains a code sequence that can run concurrently with other code, and the code sequence requires temporary, exclusive access to a shared resource, but a timing window exists in which the shared resource can be modified by another code sequence that is operating concurrently.
CVE-2026-93694 has been classified to as a Race Condition vulnerability or weakness.
