Queue Pointer Corruption in libslirp => Host DoS via Burst Traffic
CVE-2026-120831 Published on November 3, 2026
Libslirp: libslirp: queue pointer corruption in if_output() leading to denial of service
A flaw was found in libslirp in if_output(). When moving a session from the fast queue to the batch queue, the code unlinked and reinserted an arbitrary packet via ifm->m_nextpkt instead of the session queue head, corrupting queue pointers. A guest generating burst traffic could crash the host networking process, causing a denial of service.

Weakness Type
What is a Memory Corruption Vulnerability?
The software writes data past the end, or before the beginning, of the intended buffer. Typically, this can result in corruption of data, a crash, or code execution. The software may modify an index or perform pointer arithmetic that references a memory location that is outside of the boundaries of the buffer. A subsequent write operation then produces undefined or unexpected results.
CVE-2026-120831 has been classified to as a Memory Corruption vulnerability or weakness.
