CVE-2025-61481 Published on October 27, 2025
An issue in MikroTik RouterOS v.7.14.2 and SwOS v.2.18 exposes the WebFig management interface over cleartext HTTP by default, allowing an on-path attacker to execute injected JavaScript in the administrators browser and intercept credentials.
Vulnerability Analysis
CVE-2025-61481 can be exploited with network access, and does not require authorization privileges or user interaction. This vulnerability is considered to have a low attack complexity. The potential impact of an exploit of this vulnerability is considered to have a high impact on confidentiality and integrity, and a small impact on availability.
Weakness Types
Insecure Default Initialization of Resource
The software initializes or sets a resource with a default that is intended to be changed by the administrator, but the default is not secure.
Cleartext Transmission of Sensitive Information
The software transmits sensitive or security-critical data in cleartext in a communication channel that can be sniffed by unauthorized actors. Many communication channels can be "sniffed" by attackers during data transmission. For example, network traffic can often be sniffed by any attacker who has access to a network interface. This significantly lowers the difficulty of exploitation by attackers.
What is an Information Disclosure Vulnerability?
The product exposes sensitive information to an actor that is not explicitly authorized to have access to that information.
CVE-2025-61481 has been classified to as an Information Disclosure vulnerability or weakness.
