IBM watsonx.data MIse: Cleartext Transmission Enables MITM (pre-5.3.0)
CVE-2025-36336 Published on June 30, 2026
Transmission of Sensitive Information found in Watson Data Intelligence
IBM watsonx.data intelligence 5.2.0, 5.2.1, 5.2.2, 5.3.0 transmits data in clear text that could allow an attacker to obtain sensitive information using man in the middle techniques.
Vulnerability Analysis
CVE-2025-36336 is exploitable with network access, and does not require authorization privileges or user interaction. This vulnerability is consided to have a high level of attack complexity. The potential impact of an exploit of this vulnerability is considered to have a high impact on confidentiality, with no impact on integrity and availability.
Weakness Type
Cleartext Transmission of Sensitive Information
The software transmits sensitive or security-critical data in cleartext in a communication channel that can be sniffed by unauthorized actors. Many communication channels can be "sniffed" by attackers during data transmission. For example, network traffic can often be sniffed by any attacker who has access to a network interface. This significantly lowers the difficulty of exploitation by attackers.
