Dell PowerScale OneFS 8.2.2-9.7 Cleartext Data Exposure -> Priv Escalation
CVE-2024-25960 Published on March 28, 2024
Dell PowerScale OneFS versions 8.2.2.x through 9.7.0.x contains a cleartext transmission of sensitive information vulnerability. A local low privileged attacker could potentially exploit this vulnerability, leading to escalation of privileges.
Vulnerability Analysis
CVE-2024-25960 is exploitable with local system access, requires user interaction and a small amount of user privileges. This vulnerability is considered to have a low attack complexity. The potential impact of an exploit of this vulnerability is considered to be very high.
Weakness Type
Cleartext Transmission of Sensitive Information
The software transmits sensitive or security-critical data in cleartext in a communication channel that can be sniffed by unauthorized actors. Many communication channels can be "sniffed" by attackers during data transmission. For example, network traffic can often be sniffed by any attacker who has access to a network interface. This significantly lowers the difficulty of exploitation by attackers.
