Jenkins Kubernetes Plugin Log Disclosure via Improper Credential Masking
CVE-2023-30513 Published on April 12, 2023
Jenkins Kubernetes Plugin 3909.v1f2c633e8590 and earlier does not properly mask (i.e., replace with asterisks) credentials in the build log when push mode for durable task logging is enabled.
Vulnerability Analysis
CVE-2023-30513 can be exploited with network access, and does not require authorization privileges or user interaction. This vulnerability is considered to have a low attack complexity. The potential impact of an exploit of this vulnerability is considered to have a high impact on confidentiality, with no impact on integrity and availability.
Weakness Type
Cleartext Transmission of Sensitive Information
The software transmits sensitive or security-critical data in cleartext in a communication channel that can be sniffed by unauthorized actors. Many communication channels can be "sniffed" by attackers during data transmission. For example, network traffic can often be sniffed by any attacker who has access to a network interface. This significantly lowers the difficulty of exploitation by attackers.
