Plaintext Password Logging in ovirt-engine via otapi-style (CVE-2022-2805)
CVE-2022-2805 Published on October 19, 2022
A flaw was found in ovirt-engine, which leads to the logging of plaintext passwords in the log file when using otapi-style. This flaw allows an attacker with sufficient privileges to read the log file, leading to confidentiality loss.
Vulnerability Analysis
CVE-2022-2805 can be exploited with network access, and requires small amount of user privileges. This vulnerability is considered to have a low attack complexity. The potential impact of an exploit of this vulnerability is considered to have a high impact on confidentiality, with no impact on integrity and availability.
Weakness Type
Cleartext Storage of Sensitive Information
The application stores sensitive information in cleartext within a resource that might be accessible to another control sphere. Because the information is stored in cleartext, attackers could potentially read it. Even if the information is encoded in a way that is not human-readable, certain techniques could determine which encoding is being used, then decode the information.
