Recent Zabbix Agent2 Security Vulnerabilities

Zabbix Agent 2 smtctl Plugin: Param Injection Leaks NTLMv2
CVE-2025-27233 - September 12, 2025

Zabbix Agent 2 smartctl plugin does not properly sanitize smart.disk.get parameters, allowing an attacker to inject unexpected arguments into the smartctl command. This can be used to leak the NTLMv2 hash from a Windows system.

Command Injection

Zabbix Agent 2 smart.disk.get RCE via unsanitized shell command
CVE-2023-32728 9.8 - Critical - December 18, 2023

The Zabbix Agent 2 item key smart.disk.get does not sanitize its parameters before passing them to a shell command resulting possible vulnerability for remote code execution.

Code Injection

Go Templates unescaped backticks pre-1.21JS injection
CVE-2023-29453 9.8 - Critical - October 12, 2023

Templates do not properly consider backticks (`) as Javascript string delimiters, and do not escape them as expected. Backticks are used, since ES6, for JS template literals. If a template contains a Go template action within a Javascript template literal, the contents of the action can be used to terminate the literal, injecting arbitrary Javascript code into the Go template. As ES6 template literals are rather complex, and themselves can do string interpolation, the decision was made to simply disallow Go template actions from being used inside of them (e.g., "var a = {{.}}"), since there is no obviously safe way to allow this behavior. This takes the same approach as github.com/google/safehtml. With fix, Template. Parse returns an Error when it encounters templates like this, with an ErrorCode of value 12. This ErrorCode is currently unexported but will be exported in the release of Go 1.21. Users who rely on the previous behavior can re-enable it using the GODEBUG flag jstmpllitinterp=1, with the caveat that backticks will now be escaped. This should be used with caution.

Code Injection

Zabbix Web Service Report Gen Arbitrary File Read via URL Param
CVE-2022-46768 5.9 - Medium - December 15, 2022

Arbitrary file read vulnerability exists in Zabbix Web Service Report Generation, which listens on the port 10053. The service does not have proper validation for URL parameters before reading the files.
